Disability History Month Reading Group- 'Call me Ahab', Anne Finger In-Person

As part of our Reading for Diversity series, the Library are teaming up with BookSoc to read and discuss ‘Call me Ahab’ by Anne Finger, a book selected by students in honour of Disability History Month.

Winner of the The Raz/Shumaker Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Fiction, 'Call me Ahab' is a selection of short stories that take historical and mythical characters, each of whom are considered disabled, and reimagine their lives in different scenarios.

Come along and discuss the stories of characters including Goliath, Vincent Van Gogh, Helen Keller and of course Moby Dick’s Ahab, all told from totally different perspectives.

The Library has provided digital copies of the book and it is also available to purchase from most major book retailers.

The discussion group will be held in the Digital Commons on Level 1 of the Information Commons.
